Resurfacing begins on Lancaster Avenue
CRAIGHALL PARK – The Johannesburg Roads Agency began resurfacing the road on 10 February.
The Johannesburg Roads Agency (JRA) has finally begun work to resurface the short stretch of Lancaster Avenue between Grosvenor and Jan Smuts avenues in Craighall Park.
Ward 90 councillor Martin Williams said that this road has been in a poor condition for years.
“This stretch of Lancaster has been in a bad condition since before I became ward councillor in August 2016. It was in dire need of resurfacing.”
Williams urged regular users of this road to please be patient and use alternative routes where possible. Sections and lanes will be closed off during the resurfacing period.
“This stretch of road sees a lot of traffic, much of which can be described as ‘heavy’. Delivery trucks and construction vehicles take their toll on residential roads.”
JRA spokesperson Zoleka Jika said deep patching started on Lancaster Avenue on 10 February and they anticipate completion will take place by 6 March.
