An armed robbery suspect was detained by Bramley police and the search is on for the second suspect.
According to the station’s head of communication, Captain Molefe Mogodi, CAP Security reaction officers were on their normal patrol when they found the victim who had just been robbed. “It is alleged that the victim was walking in the area in the early hours of 24 February when the robbery took place. He alleged that he was on the corner of Louis Botha Avenue and Corlett Drive when two unknown men approached him.”
One of them apparently pulled out a firearm and threatened him. “He was ordered not to make any moves while the other suspect was searching him. The two were already in possession of his belongings but fortunately, CAP patrol officers were around and noticed what was happening. They gave chase and managed to arrest one of the two suspects.”
The 27-year-old suspect will appear in court soon and police are looking for the other suspect.
Mogodi added, “We appreciate the cooperation of CAP security and it is not the first time the security company has helped the police in the fight against crime. We really are happy to see such a great commitment.”
He also shared another crime success by the police. “In a separate incident, a 20-year-old man was arrested following a sexual assault report which was made by the complainant.”
He explained that it was alleged that the victim was walking along Glen Road when a car stopped next to her. “The man who is unknown got off and approached her and allegedly the man started touching her indecently and saying indecent words to her.
“The victim was uncomfortable and felt threatened. She then ran to nearby residential premises to seek help. The man was arrested and will appear in court soon to face a charge of sexual assault.”
Mogodi wished to let the community know that the police strive to serve and protect and they should report any crimes immediately to the nearest police station.
