WATCH: #WooliesWaterChallenge takes over social media

JOBURG: Funny accents, twangs and complex words make up the viral #WooliesWaterChallenge.

It is no secret that water is a highly important and healing resource – a resource that we all need to live. However, social media users have taken the benefits of water an extra mile via the #WooliesWaterChallenge. The challenge started when a video of students claiming Woolworths’ water changes accents went viral.

In the viral video, the group of students code-switch between isiZulu and ‘bad’ English and claim that the water has special powers and put it to the test. After drinking the water, their accents change and they start using ‘complex’ words such as metamorphosis, photosynthesis, and amalgamate.

The group were featured as guests on Trending SA and Woolworths has since posted a tweet giving the video a thumbs-up and said they will get into contact with the group.
