22 March: Human Rights Festival Film Fest
The Human Rights Festival Film Fest will air short films, documentaries and classic feature-length movies. It will also host events and panel discussions on the wider cultural, human and socio-political implications of conflict and the countless ways these have been presented through film, both historically and in contemporary cinema. 23 March: StandUp4HumanRights Music Concert
Constitution Hill will come alive with the sound of music. The #StandUp4HumanRights Music Concert will feature musicians and performers who are active in the social justice space sharing their voices and talent. This free concert will also share messages from the stage on how to become a more responsible and socially active citizen. The concert will feature acts such as Sjava BCUC, Samthing Soweto, DJ Kenzhero and Msaki. Free tickets available on www.constitutionhill.org.za
23 March: Trippin with Skhumba by Showmax
SA’s funniest comedians all on one stage, courtesy of Trippin with Skhumba, the comedy-reality Showmax Original. Boasting an all-star line-up, Trippin with Skhumba features Tumi Morake, Mashabela Galane, Celeste Ntuli, Siya Seya, Schalk Bezuidenhout and Salesman de comedian. 24 March: Sinatra and Me
Frank Sinatra, one of music’s great icons, is all set to ignite the South African stage in 2019 in a dazzling big-band international show, Sinatra and Me, featuring celebrated British performer, Richard Shelton who has been described as one of the world’s finest Sinatra interpreters. Shelton is an award-winning actor and singer and will be accompanied on the Joburg Theatre stage by Adam Howard’s 17-piece Joburg Big Band from 21 – 24 March. 24 March: We, the People Walk
The annual We, the People Walk is back and will, once again, take place alongside the We, the Children Walk. The walk, which takes its title from the preamble to the South African Constitution, will celebrate 25 years of democracy under the hashtag #WhatDoYouStandFor. While adults have the choice of a 5km or 8km route, the children will embark on a 1km walk around the Constitution Hill precinct alongside them. The walk begins and ends at Constitution Hill and passes a number of significant city sites. Citizens are encouraged to walk for human rights as enshrined in the country’s constitution.
