Basic baking skills for domestic workers

HYDE PARK –Hirsch's teaches domestic workers the importance of measuring the ingredients correctly during the baking process.

Hirsch’s Hyde Park recently hosted their monthly domestic training for the unsung heroes of the household. Hirsch’s Public Relations officer, Marjone Barnard said Whirlpool ambassador Mthobisi Mabeloane taught the ladies basic baking skills. She said Mabeloane spoke about the importance of measuring the ingredients correctly but also allowed them to be comfortable with being creative.

“After preparing cookies, scones, and a delicious chocolate cake, the ladies had a competition decorating the cookies. The class was very interactive with questions being asked afterwards on what they learned,” Barnard said.

The domestic worker of the month was Mellania Mthuthu. She was nominated by her employer, for being a second mother in their household for the past 10 years. Afterwards, the women took a lot of selfies with their certificates and exchanged recipes.
