Man declared dead after collapsing on Empire Road

PARKTOWN – Police were present at the scene and had closed off the lane in both directions to allow paramedics to attend to the patient.

Netcare 911 responded to reports of a patient that had collapsed in Parktown on Empire Road on Wednesday (19 June) in the late afternoon (around 4.40pm).

When Netcare 911 arrived at the scene, another private ambulance service had initiated a full advanced life support resuscitation after finding the patient unresponsive and not breathing.

The South African Police service and Metro police were present at the scene and had closed off the lane in both directions to allow paramedics to attend to the patient. Traffic was heavily affected.

“Sadly, despite best efforts by all involved, the patient’s condition deteriorated and he was declared deceased on the scene,” communications office of Netcare 911 Shawn Herbst said in a statement.
