New RA established in Lyndhurst
LYNDHURST – The newly established residents association in Lyndhurst calls for residents to be part of the next A Re Sebetseng clean-up campaign.
The Lyndhurst and Corlett Gardens Residents Association was formed in June following a street clean-up initiative which was organised by one of the community members, David Kahn.
One of the residents, Marlon Moon, said residents from Lyndhurst community met on 29 June to participate in the clean-up initiative with Ward 81 councillor Irene Rugheimer and one resident from Rembrandt Park.
Earlier this month, on 9 July, residents then met at Fuchsia Hall at the Jabula Recreation Centre in Sydenham to discuss issues of concern affecting their neighbourhood. Two of the community members including Kahn and Gary Rubin subsequently formed the Lyndhurst Residents Association and a WhatsApp group.
This was then followed by a formal first meeting held on 22 July in Willow View complex.
Moon said their Social Network Group comprises a lot of residents from Lyndhurst who attended the meeting at the Jabula Centre in Sydenham while more residents were added afterwards.
The RA was established to address the rising issues of concern including security and other issues affecting residents as well as driving the monthly residents’ clean-up campaign.
“The campaign is aligned with the City of Joburg A Re Sebetseng clean-up campaign,” said Moon.
Their next A Re Sebetseng clean-up campaign will be on Sunday, 18 August.
The RA had also invited Mayor Herman Mashaba and MMC for Environment and Infrastructure Services, Nico de Jager to be part of their campaign.
Their next meeting is scheduled to be held on 5 August at No 124 on Johannesburg Road in Lyndhurst just opposite Digi Fleet at 6pm.
