Sultry songstress takes on the charts

JOBURG – Sultry songstress, Lucille Slade, sets out to release her second EP, Love Me Slowly.

For some time, Lucille Slade had been under the radar. The singer/songwriter first caught the masses’ attention following her sultry take on popular songs, a move that sparked some curiosity on the young singer’s vast talents and much-deserved attention for her first project, Scratch the Surface.

Although Lucille is popularly known for her song covers, she has wealth of original material that puts her in a position to go toe-to-toe with the best vocalists in the game. The singer has grown musically since the release of her first project.

“I’m a lot more confident in what I have to say and the type of artist I want to be,” Lucille slade.

Her latest single, Velvet, stands a chance at shooting up the local charts. The record, produced by Stixx and engineered by Zeph Beatz, is a smooth, bass-driven R&B tune, with straight forward sensual lyrics.

“It speaks to the woman who is open to letting her suitor know how he makes her feel, likening the feeling of her suitor to the soft, smooth touch of the fabric velvet,” she said.

The emotions evoked by listening to Velvet come to life in the official music video which exclusively premiered on Trace Africa. The Siyabonga Mkholo-directed video is simple, sensual and straight to the point and takes us on a women’s point of view during the courtship phase of the relationship.

Lucille said she tries to take a different route when it comes to rolling out her music and plans on bringing the listener into her world and give them a taste of what to expect during her live performances.

Her second project, Love Me Slowly, is expected to come out before the year ends and will see her bring R&B, pop and fun sounds together and turn into a coherent project. The project features Obsyalone and is produced by Stixx.

“We recorded the songs over the last two years. There’s been quite a lot of material to choose from and we were able to choose songs that I felt best fit where I am now. I think that consistently making music helps you get into a certain space,” she said.

Lucille said she plans on releasing her third EP following the release of Love Me Slowly before making the move into a full-length album.
