Riky Rick, Nasty C, and more headline Rage in the City’s Joburg take-over

JOBURG – For three-days, 29 November to 1 December, South Africa’s hottest acts are set to flock onto Braamfontein, Constitution Hill and a third secret location as Rage in the City takes over Joburg.

Over the years, Rage Festival has become the ultimate end-of-year student celebration – students from all over the country flock to South Africa’s beautiful east coast. This time around, G&G Productions has switched things up and taken on the City of Gold for a three-day takeover of Braamfontein for the ultimate student festival experience.

“We’re basically taking over the City of Johannesburg for three days and what we’re trying to do is create the ultimate experience,” said Thabang Modupo, G&G Productions spokesperson for Rage in the City.

For three-days, 29 November to 1 December, South Africa’s hottest acts are set to flock into Braamfontein, Constitution Hill and a third secret location. The line-up features big acts such as Riky Rick, Nasty C, Sho Madjozi, A-Reece and young stars The Big Hash, Patrickxxlee and Kabza de Small among a stellar line-up.

Taking place when most students are set to close off the academic year, the fest presents an opportunity to celebrate a tough and chaotic year. Modupo said the fest is aimed at bringing back the heydays of Braamfontein’s creative culture back.

“We are bringing back the culture and the people around us. We’re looking at fashion, music, illustrators and any type of creative form. Those are the people that are actually creating the culture within the Braamfontein precinct space,” said Modupo.

Day one kicks off with a Braam club-hopping experience with Kitcheners, Great Dane, Republic of 94, and The Immigrant Square promising to provide the ultimate nightlife experience Braamfontein is known for.

“We’re just there to celebrate the youth, that’s what we’re all about. We’re shifting the culture from the older guys and looking at the new people that are going in on the scene,” he said.

Day two lights up the City with a complete shutdown of Constitution Hill ahead of day three which will see the ravers cap off the hectic three-day experience in a cool, calm and relaxed chilled Sunday.
