Two suspects have been arrested by the Johannesburg Flying Squad working with the Bramley police for suspected drug dealing and bribery on 24 December.
According to the Bramley police spokesperson, Captain Molefe Mogodi, Flying Squad members were patrolling along Old Pretoria Main Road near Thora Crescent in Marlboro when they received a tip-off from members of the community about two people allegedly selling drugs.
On their arrival, the police found a 27-year-old man sitting under a tree and they approached and searched him.
“He was found in possession of a substance which is suspected to be drugs,” Mogodi said.
“He was arrested and while still there, he offered a bribe to the police by giving them money. The police refused and the suspect was locked up for bribery as well.”
The second suspect, a 24-year-old, was also found in possession of a substance suspected to be drugs, not far from where the first suspect was arrested, he added.
The two suspects were then taken to Bramley Police Station for detention and further investigation and Mogodi said they have since appeared in court.
Bramley police commend the community who alerted them about the suspected crime.
