Fête de la Musique opens its doors to budding talent

JOBURG –Popular Newtown fest calls on musicians, DJs and bands from all music genres, amateur and professional, to perform and join in the spirit of Fête de la Musique.

With thousands of visitors each year since its creation youngsters, families, students all gather to celebrate free music for all at the Fête de la Musique – a real platform for both renowned and upcoming talent. Many local and international artists have taken part in the event throughout the years and contributed to its success, including Samthing Soweto, Vaudou Game, Nakhane, Blk Jks, Urban Village, BCUC, Baenz Oester and the Rainmakers, Bombshelter beast, and Msaki.

Open to musicians from all music genres, the aim of the Fête de la Musique is to celebrate live music, to host international artists alongside local musicians by providing a platform for upcoming talents, and to bring world-class music to Joburg in a safe and inclusive environment.

The 9th edition of this free popular family-friendly event will take place on Saturday 6 June in Newtown Cultural Precinct. Once again, the fest is calling on musicians, DJs and bands from all music genres, amateur and professional, to perform and join in the spirit of Fête de la Musique.

Apply here to be in the running to perform at the 2020 Fete de la Musique. The deadline to apply is Friday 10 April 2020. Only the first 150 applications will be reviewed.

The Fête de la Musique Joburg is brought to you by the Alliance Française of Johannesburg and the French Institute of South Africa in partnership with Bassline Live and with the support of TOTAL, Newtown Junction, Trace TV and the Market Theatre.
