Dunkeld Reservoir is currently closed
DUNKELD – Joburg Water encouraged residents to continue to save as much water as possible.
Johannesburg Water has issued an alert to the community that Dunkeld Reservoir has been closed as it was running empty.
Joburg Water said on Twitter on 10 July that this closure will affect areas including Parktown North, Hyde Park, Craighall and surrounding areas.
Ward 117 councillor, Tim Truluck said on his Facebook page on 10 July, “The reservoir started filling up last night and started getting the water back, but with the morning demand, some properties in the higher up sections of Craighall Park, Dunkeld, Parktown North lost water again. This is likely to happen again over the next few days.
“I believe that Joburg Water has found the origin of the problem was a faulty pressure release valve. The team is currently organising spares for it to be repaired,” he said. “Please use water sparingly at the moment.”
There is currently no estimated repair time (ERT).
Residents are encouraged to visit Joburg Water’s website, www.johannesburgwater.co.za and select the SMS notification services for alerts on planned and unplanned services. Residents can also follow Joburg Water on Twitter @JHBWater and Facebook Johannesburg Water.
