Community Environmental Education Programme (CEEP) is a non- profit organisation (NPO) that does educational murals. The NPO carries out these murals in schools, public places, medical facilities and other non-governmental organisations.
Founder and CEO of the NPO, Nicole Heiman, said, “We are an organisation that is passionate about education and ensure the murals painted are done with a purpose. Our murals do not only educate but also ensure team spirit through team building activities and brings community togetherness once the project is complete.”

She added that CEEP recently executed a pilot maths and interactive mural in an early childhood education centre. Heiman said the project was based on international research as well as years of experience.
She said, “Traditional murals lose their appeal after a short period of time, so ideas are being used from various sources to pilot a new way of working and doing things. The floor murals are made up of games such as chess, hopscotch and addition games as well as mathematical concepts such as the times tables on the stairs and floor angle. These concepts reinforce learning in the classroom.”
Heiman added that maths games are placed in the playground for the children to interact with during break time or after school. “Maths concepts are reinforced by the children interacting with the activities many times during the day. Children climbing stairs are exposed to the times tables on the stairs and this reinforces learning. Murals last a long time and can be used for many years by the school to reinforce teaching.

“I would like to offer to do these murals in private schools so that I can bring in some funding to the NGO as lockdown has affected our teambuilding that normally helps us bring funds in the project,” Heiman said.
