Community support will help these volunteers in Lyndhurst

David Kahn together with Marlon Moon have organised for the employees and brothers Wilbur and Mlungisi Moyo to clean and restore the kerbside and pavements on their free days.

Two Lyndhurst residents have arranged for their complex employees to perform some ‘volunteer’ work. David Kahn together with Marlon Moon have organised for the employees and brothers Wilbur and Mlungisi Moyo to clean and restore the kerbside and pavements on their free days.

He said the Moyos work in their complex with Wilbur working 15 days per month, while Mlungisi helps out six to eight days per month.

“The idea is for the community to give them financial support via donations in the form of cash or e-wallet to their cell phones. I am encouraging residents, complexes and businesses in the area to contribute. Our complex of 31 units is donating R1 000 and two homeowners have committed R200.

“This project is a copy of what a lady in Bedford View arranged during lockdown asking one of her employees to clean 15km of kerbside,” Kahn said.

He added that he intends to plant some trees and shrubs during this project as well.
