Seven injured after a vehicle overturned in Houghton

HOUGHTON – Medics assessed the patients and found that seven adults had sustained moderate to serious injuries.

A taxi rollover in Houghton Drive and St Andrews intersection left seven people injured on 3 May.

The spokesperson of ER24 Russel Meiring said the taxi crashed into a tree and overturned. “ER24 paramedics, and other services, arrived on the scene at 1.03pm to find the taxi upright in the middle of the intersection. The passengers had already climbed out of the car and were walking around on the scene,” explained Meiring.

Meiring said the medics assessed the patients and found that seven adults had sustained moderate to serious injuries. Fortunately, there were no fatalities.

“The patients were treated and provided pain relief medication before they were transported to nearby hospitals for further care,” said Meiring.

Local authorities were on the scene for further investigations.
