Toby Chance, voting district captain for the DA, said the morning had been quiet, with only two young voters, who were voting for the first time this year, having come through to register. A few others had come through to check that they were still on the voter’s roll. Still, he suspected it was the cold weather that had left the morning’s registrations so quiet. He has encouraged all residents to register to vote.
EFF party agent Amanda Mdidimba said the day’s proceedings had been quiet and peaceful. She has encouraged all new voters and those who have changed their address to register.

According to the Electoral Commission of South Africa (IEC), members of the community only have to re-register to vote if:
• They have since moved to a new home, or your voting district boundaries have changed.
“You must reregister before an election is proclaimed (published in the Government Gazette) or your new details will not appear on the voters’ roll for that election,” said the IEC on its website.
Residents can only vote at the voting station that they are registered during municipal and by-elections.
Please check your voter registration details to make sure that you’re registered and to check if your voting district boundaries have changed.
