DSJ Fashion Show Back in Action

After a year and a half of various lockdown levels disrupting plans of any large gatherings, the Matric Ball Committee of the Deutsche Internationale Schule Johannesburg was finally able to produce another Fashion Show.

“For years, the event has been a highlight on the community’s social calendar but this year, the event was all the more special because – for a few hours – people could get lost in the beauty of local fashion and ‘feel normal’ again,” said the head of the committee and organiser of the fashion show, Samantha Gibb.

In accordance with Covid-19 protocols, the committee decided to produce the event under the stars, which made it all the more magical.

The crowd went wild for the well-choreographed and curated selection of local designs worn by the gorgeous senior learners of the school. Brands like Cotton Eaters, Presh M, Rouge Moon, Irenic and many more thrilled the audience. New to the ramp was concept rental store Sequined Locker who showed their magnificent collection of evening and bridal wear which they hire out for reasonable prices.

But the star of the show was local designer Corne Coetzee who is back after 15 years in Mumbai. He showed his latest haute couture collection for men and women fresh off the Bombay Fashion Week runway.
