Rosebank installs a CCTV network to enhance security in public space
PARKTOWN NORTH – A system of CCTV cameras monitored by an off-site, specialist control room will increase public safety in the Rosebank precinct.
The Rosebank Management District has rolled out its first phase of integrated remote monitoring and on-the-ground security programme to enhance the safety of the precinct.
The Rosebank precinct is increasing public space security through a network of closed-circuit television (CCTV) cameras being monitored from a specialist, off-site monitoring control room.
Lerato Khiba, Excellerate Managed Services manager, said they collaborated with tenants, property owners in the node, and security experts to address risk factors at different levels.
“We have now added an off-site CCTV camera monitoring service to our existing armed patrol and SAPS services. This extra layer of 24/7 live CCTV monitoring is driven by world-class technology and provided by the market leader, AI Surveillance. It will act as a powerful crime prevention tool to the Rosebank precinct, Greater Johannesburg’s premier retail and business node.”
Khiba added that the prevention of violence and crime is recognised internationally as a central component of urban safety strategies, and the Rosebank Management District has always played an integral role in crime prevention in the node.

CEO of AI Surveillance Rob Nichol is no stranger to precinct remote monitoring. Nichol said, “Our recent successes in the Sandton precinct include a noticeable reduction of crime since the launch of the CCTV monitoring programme and 85 arrests in six months for crimes committed both inside and outside the district.”
