Victims of a robbery receive their stolen items back

WAVERLEY – A common robbery charge was laid on the suspect who robbed three victims.

A man was recently arrested for a common robbery in Waverley.

Norwood Police Station spokesperson Sergeant Eric Masotsha said the suspect had robbed three members of the public and was arrested on November 20.

“Complainants reported being robbed of their belongings by one male. They then notified one of our active security companies who went on the hunt for the suspect as a description had been given to them. The police were notified as well,” added Masotsha.

He said the security members spotted the suspect near Louis Botha Avenue close to Highlands Centre. “A chase ensued until they managed to apprehend him. All [stolen] items, valued not less than R15 000, were given back to the lawful owners by the police and the suspect was arrested for common robbery.

“We thank our loyal security officers who always do the best for the love of our community members as well as implement the slogan ‘fight against crime’.”
