Guild Cottage thanks its donors for an awesome year
Without the continued generosity and support from the donors the rehabilitation home would not have been able to fulfil its pursued missions.
One of the oldest children’s homes in the country, Guild Cottage Child and Youth Treatment Centre thanks their generous donors for an awesome 2021.
For 114 years, Guild Cottage has been making a positive impact in the lives of vulnerable girls in need of care. “We are in the middle of a pandemic that has affected even the donors that had previously supported us which makes our work difficult,” said Faith Notshe of Guild Cottage.
Notshe added they were grateful to the Parktown community, their loyal friends, donors and sponsors who had always made sure that the girls lacked for nothing and would sometimes come to spend their time with the girls.
“2021 has been a year full of wonderful surprises and highlights. Among the Guild Cottage events, highlights for 2021 included a wonderful visit and funds donation from the Old Guild Girls Association which was deemed an encouraging and beautiful event for the Guild Cottage girls.”
Other notable highlights included a visit from Guild Cottage’s highly esteemed patron, Justice Edwin Cameron who partnered up with the company Avon and Justine to treat the girls and staff with gift bags filled with wonderful self-care products.
“We are also truly appreciative of the numerous in-kind and monetary donations that we received courtesy of organisations such as Standard Bank, 100% Foundation, UPCSA, Valley Trust as well as the Deutsche Internationale Schule that tirelessly contributed clothes, blankets and food to our home,” Notshe said.
One of their biggest highlights of the year was the Guild Cottage girls of 1979 reunion. “The 1979 Guild Cottage girls went all out to make sure that they make a mark in the lives of the children.”
There was also gratitude for all the maintenance efforts of Robert and Maggie Savage at the home.
“NYPD Armed Protection is always on alert to make sure we are secure at all times and that sense of safety and security is all that the girls need to feel at home.
“Our priority for 2022 is to increase our visibility and also to increase our fundraising efforts so that we can [broaden] our scope.”
