DSJ welcomes new Grade 1s

PARKTOWN – DSJ welcomes new Grade 1 learners using German tradition.

The Deutsche Internationale Schule Johannesburg (DSJ) welcomed their new Grade 1s to big school on January 20 during a special ‘Einschulungsfeier’ (welcoming ceremony).

As per German tradition, the Grade 1s each received a ‘Zuckertüte’ (a cone-shaped container made of paper, cardboard or plastic).

Traditionally, this cone is given to children to calm any anxiety ahead of their first day of school.
