Wits and UJ rugby stars honoured at 2021 Rugby Awards

JOBURG – Local universities produce award-winning rugby players.

The South African Rugby Awards were hosted on January 27 and featured local sports stars who have been thriving at their universities.

Wits University’s Henco van Wyk and the University of Johannesburg (UJ)’s Ronald Brown were among the winners at this year’s prestigious and honourable awards.

Henco van Wyk was named the Springbok Player of the Year as he was a star for the national U20 side during their international series in 2021.

After a thrilling and successful year with the sevens team, Ronald Brown was named the Springbok Sevens Player of the Year at the awards.

Their respective universities have congratulated them on their awards and wished them all the best for the rugby that awaits them in 2022.
