The brain centred football academy
According to Sean Szabo, football is a complex sport that presents multiple opportunities to develop cognitively.
The founder of IQ Football, Sean Szabo has been running the football academy successfully for six years.
Born in London, Szabo began his football career when he was scouted and signed by Plymouth Argyle FC. His passion and aptitude for coaching were recognised from the age of 16 when he was asked to coach the Plymouth Argyle FC academy players.
His coaching career began to become his ultimate focus when, at a crucial time, an illness had stopped him from playing the game for more than a year.
To overcome this setback, he began to develop mental strength and resilience, and his passion for football coaching came to the fore.
In 2015, he established IQ Football which is the only South African ‘brain-centred’ football academy that develops a player’s intelligence on and off the field.
According to Szabo, the academy offers a brain-centred football curriculum and mentoring for children aged between two and 18.
“The aim is to help develop a player’s talent to the next level and also build a strong mindset that determines the player’s performance,” he said.
“IQ Football uses brain-centred training to equip the children to be able to thrive as adults in their complex future. Brain-centred training drills enhance their technical and motor skills, builds strong mindsets, and develop their intelligence.
“The professional game is no longer dependent on physical ability alone but more so than ever, on a player’s intelligence.”
