The Neon Fun Run on May 7 allowed the community to enjoy time outdoors together in one location.

Organiser Caryl Kelly said, “A 2.5km and 5km route were created along the beautiful green lawns and everyone in Parkview and the surrounding suburbs was invited to come along and enjoy the time outdoors.”

Tickets were sold for adults, children, and even dogs. The funds raised will be used towards Parkview Residents’ Association’s street maintenance, cleaning, and suburban greening initiatives.

According to Kelly, the association was delighted with the response to the event. Their target of 500 entries was surpassed quickly as they saw a total of 858 entries. “It was a wonderful evening enjoyed by everyone. This was a real community affair, and the local high school, Parktown Girls High, also helped with volunteers who worked on the registration and helped marshall.”

Kelly concluded, “It gave us great joy to see everyone working and coming together to not only reconnect as a community but to raise funds to better our community too.”
