Music competition winners congratulated
Extremely high standard of performances at the 2022 Roedean Music Competition in Parktown.
The Roedean School Music Department hosted its 19th annual music competition finale on June 3.


COO of Roedean School SA, Shaori Ajodha said, “This year we received 110 entries from 20 participating schools in Gauteng and KwaZulu-Natal. The competition consisted of five categories: piano, strings, woodwind, brass, and voice.


“We also welcomed back to this year’s competition, four esteemed adjudicators, Dr Hanli Stapela for the voice category; Peta- Ann Holdcroft for the string category; Lesley Stansell for the brass and woodwind category, and Dr Tessa Roodi from the University of Pretoria for the piano category.”


Ajodha said the performances were of an extremely high standard and choosing the finalist on the gala evening was no easy task. “We congratulate the winners of the 2022 Roedean Music Competition, and we wish them well with their future musical achievements.”

Third prize winners:
- Kiki Arran (vocal) St Stithians Girls’ College
- Samuel Hertz (piano) Redhill
- Hester Oelofse (strings) St Stithians Girls’ College
- Lana van Rooyen (woodwind) Hoërskool Randburg
- Angus Charlton (brass) St John’s College.
