The DA in Ward 72 demanded government slash fuel prices.
Party members of the ward which includes Glenhazel, Linksfield, Orange Grove, Sandringham and Sydenham, last week hosted an event at Genesis shopping centre to encourage the public to join their call to reduce fuel prices.

In a media statement, Ward 72 Councilor Daniel Schay said, “The DA is calling on national government to take immediate action on reducing the skyrocketing fuel price.
The increase of R4.80 a litre over the last two months is completely unaffordable for many South Africans whose livelihoods have already been dramatically slashed by the government’s dismal approach to the coronavirus pandemic.

“In order to soften the blow of the rising fuel prices, the DA is calling for three things in order to reduce the price by 33% – the deregulation of the fuel price, cutting taxes on fuel, removing the road accident fund levy for those already paying for insurance.”
Schay added the public was supportive and many added their signatures to a petition already signed by tens of thousands of South Africans.
