St Stithians Boys’ College basketball team’s slam dunk

ESCA's primary objective is to provide young basketball talent in Johannesburg with frequent opportunities to exhibit their abilities.

Claps and cheers from St Stithians Boys’ College and Elite Sporting & Cultural Academy (ESCA) parents filled the Wanderers basketball courts on February 9.

The U16 basketball game was won by St Stithians Boys’ College 24 – 21 ESCA.

ESCA’s chief operations officer, Ernst Ackermann said the academy takes pride in contributing to the expansion of platforms for young talent to showcase their skills.

“Our primary objective is to provide young basketball talents in Johannesburg with frequent opportunities to exhibit their abilities. By organising multiple events throughout the year instead of a single traditional tournament, we aim to bring together the basketball community more often.”

Ackermann added that the innovative approach not only benefitted their players but also extended the ‘big game’ experience to players from invited schools.

The academy’s goal is to foster a basketball atmosphere that supports the academy’s long-term objective of establishing Wanderers Club as the go-to destination for basketball enthusiasts in Johannesburg on Friday nights.
