Joburg Zoo invites you to adopt mom’s favourite animal
Joburg Zoo offers the unique opportunity to adopt an animal this Mother's Day, contributing to wildlife and creating lasting memories.

As Mother’s Day approaches, the search for the perfect gift can often be a daunting task.
However, Joburg Zoo is offering a unique and memorable option this year, the opportunity to adopt your mom’s favourite animal.
From the inquisitive Black Spider monkey to the graceful giraffe and the majestic Amazonian anaconda, Joburg Zoo boasts more than 2000 species to choose from, ensuring there’s something special for every mom.
The Adopt an Animal programme at Joburg Zoo is open to animal enthusiasts, corporations, schools, clubs, and families alike, allowing them to contribute to the welfare of all animals under the zoo’s care. Not only do adoption fees support the animals directly, but they also contribute to successful breeding programmes for endangered species, including the Pickersgill’s reed frog, the wattled crane, and the owl project, among others.
With a commitment to world-class animal welfare, Joburg Zoo leads the way in providing top-notch care for its residents. A state-of-the-art hospital and dedicated staff ensure that regular health checks and necessary procedures are conducted to ensure the well-being of all animals. Furthermore, the zoo’s hospital serves as an educational hub for university students pursuing careers in veterinary science and zoology.

Adoptions are valid for one year and are renewable upon request. While the adopted animals remain within the zoo, in the event of a need for removal, the adoption can be transferred to another animal of choice.
Among the diverse array of animals available for adoption are Siberian tigers, lions, honey badgers, ruffled lemurs, snakes, rhinos, elephants, blue cranes, and various monkey species.
