Park Care celebrates Mother’s Day with residents
The centre is an NPO that provides 24-hour nursing care to frail long-term and short-term residents.

Parktown North staff centre celebrated Mother’s Day over events with residents from May 10, 17, and 18.

Park Care patients sat in front of their building while a singer and pianist entertained them with songs from the 60s and 70s and encouraged them to dance and sing along.

Social work manager at the centre, Lorraine le Roux said the first day of the centre’s three events was made up of two volunteer singers who performed songs from the 60s and 70s for the residents.

She said they observed different holidays and celebrated with residents. “We are celebrating Mother’s Day month with people who come to the centre and entertainment. Our residents are very limited in what they can do so we like hosting concerts, and dancing events and then preparing food for them.”
