Nosipho Hani teaches people how to heal through literature
The Johannesburg Holocaust and Genocide Centre and Issy’s Coffee and Gift Shop hosts the launch of Nosipho Hani’s new book.
The Johannesburg Holocaust and Genocide Centre and Issy’s Coffee and Gift Shop hosted the launch of Nosipho Hani’s new book Healing Through Literature, on April 27.
A panel discussion on intergenerational trauma followed the book launch. The launch centred on the theme of ‘Healing Our Past, Celebrating Our Future’, starting with a discussion between Nosipho Hani and Courtneigh Cloud Bernstein, the owner of Issy’s Coffee and Gift Shop and the granddaughter of a Holocaust survivor about the book.
The book’s concept was discussed, a workbook that helps people use literature to work through their trauma, healing wounds in their own time. Following this conversation was a panel discussion on intergenerational trauma with Tali Nates, Michael Sissison, and Kenine Guhema, chaired by Courtneigh Cloud Bernstein.
The event spoke to the need in South Africa to process our trauma to heal.
