Highlands Park U10 and U17 head coach Patrick Baptista said the ceremony acknowledged the soccer club’s efforts.

“This is our chance as a club to thank the coaches, parents, and players for their dedication. Through the players, we are well-represented in various cultures and demographics that make up the larger community of this area and as far as Hillbrow, Berea, and Boksburg.”

Highlands Park has more than 450 players and Baptista noted that the club had switched from the north-rand league to the more competitive eastern league which indicated that the club was on the right track.
He added the season’s highlights were seeing the U6 and U7 players coming into the club, nervous and excited, but flourishing at the end of the season.

“The season runs from February until now and is a way to uplift the community and the children who play the sport. This sport gives children something to do while keeping them safe and developing them.”
