St Teresa’s Rosies make waves at annual inter-house gala

The St Teresa’s Junior Primary pool splashed with excitement as young swimmers showcased their skills at the annual Interhouse Gala.

The sparkling waters of St Teresa’s Junior Primary School pool came alive last week as young swimmers from Grades 1–3 competed in the much-anticipated Interhouse Gala. Held on a sunny November 23, the event showcased swimming strokes and the essence of teamwork, determination, and the sheer joy of sport.

The gala, a highlight on the school’s calendar, featured freestyle, backstroke, breaststroke, and nail-biting relay races. For those less competitive, but no less enthusiastic, fun races provided a chance to shine, leaving spectators smiling. It was a day of cheers, splashes, and moments that will be remembered long after the final whistle.

The swimming celebrations didn’t stop there. On December 3, the school’s youngest stars, the Grade 0 learners, had their moment to shine. In a heartwarming display, these budding swimmers took to the pool, demonstrating the water skills they’d been building throughout the year. Watching their little ones paddle with pride and determination, parents and grandparents were visibly moved.

Reflecting on the events, principal Lynne Elfick shared her thoughts: “These swimming galas go beyond competition. They are about building confidence, fostering friendships, and celebrating progress. Seeing our Rosies grow, both in the water and as individuals, is what makes this so special.”

The week’s success was thanks to the school’s passionate physical education team, who turned the poolside into a stage for unforgettable moments. Parents also played a vital role, their cheers and unwavering support lifting the spirits of every child.

For St Teresa’s, the gala wasn’t just about who swam the fastest or won the most points; it was a celebration of effort, growth, and the joy of being part of a caring community. As the echoes of applause fade and the pool returns to its quiet rhythm, one thing remains certain: The Rosies are ready to make waves, in swimming and in life.
