Parktown Girls hosts action-packed Pirates Junior Hockey Clinic
Young hockey players had a day to remember as they trained alongside South African stars at the Pirates Junior Hockey Clinic.
The sound of sticks clashing and excited voices filled the air at Parktown Girls High School as young hockey players got to learn from some of South Africa’s best.
On February 15, players took to the field for the Pirates Junior Hockey Clinic. The clinic, designed for players aged nine to 18, focused on developing skills, fostering teamwork, and igniting a passion for the sport.

A highlight of the event was the presence of three South African women’s players – Robyn Johnson, Morgan de Jager, and Shanna Mendonca – who joined the clinic to coach and inspire the young athletes. Their expertise brought a new level of intensity to the training sessions, giving participants the chance to learn from some of the country’s best.

Throughout the morning, players worked hard to refine their techniques, improve their game awareness, and gain valuable insights into high-level hockey. From basic skills to advanced strategies, each session was designed to challenge and uplift the participants, helping them grow in confidence and ability.
The clinic proved to be a resounding success, leaving players motivated and eager to apply their newfound knowledge in future matches. With such initiatives, Pirates Junior Hockey continues to nurture the next generation of South African hockey talent, ensuring a bright future for the sport.
