From the start, energy levels were high as the learners jumped into a variety of hands-on activities. They explored the basics of engineering through pyramid building, got their first taste of robotics and coding, and were introduced to the futuristic world of 3D printing. The room echoed with laughter and concentration as learners guided tiny robots across tabletops and tested their digital creations.

Engineers from Wits University joined the day’s festivities, offering insights and answering the many eager questions posed by the young minds. Their presence added a real-world element to the excitement, reinforcing the day’s aim of connecting children to the world of ICT in engaging and meaningful ways.

A particularly striking element of the event was the natural alignment of each school’s strengths. Iphutheng Primary, with its growing focus on engineering, complemented Norwood Primary’s passion for gaming, robotics and coding. This synergy became the heartbeat of the day, as learners exchanged ideas, collaborated on building challenges, and even ventured into virtual reality to design digital pyramids.
