With more than 210 players representing provinces from all corners of South Africa, the tournament celebrated not only skill and competition but also camaraderie and community spirit. The event followed a team-based format, with players grouped by age, and each province fielding its best to challenge for top honours.

Wanderers Squash was one of two venues used for the tournament, and it made a strong impression on both players and spectators. The club boasts Johannesburg’s only all-glass squash court, which provided a dramatic stage for the weekend’s most important match, the A-Section final. In front of a lively crowd, the Johannesburg A team delivered a standout performance to win the section, much to the delight of the home supporters.

Their victory in the final was part of a strong overall showing by the host city, as Team Johannesburg went on to win the overall large provinces title, lifting the prestigious Monty Shotland Trophy. This was a well-earned reward for the team’s consistency, teamwork, and determination throughout the event.

Beyond the courts, Wanderers also hosted two evening functions at its popular Chariots Bar, where players gathered after a long day’s play to relax, share stories, and enjoy the social side of the tournament. These evenings added to the sense of community that the Masters event is known for, serving as a reminder that, while the squash is competitive, it’s the friendships and shared passion that make it truly special.

Tournament organiser and Wanderers member Dino Petrarolo shared his thoughts on the weekend, saying, “The players appreciated the facilities, and the glass court gave the finals a great sense of occasion. Wanderers was proud to be part of such a well-supported event.”

The SA Masters IPT remains a celebration of lifelong sport, where players from all backgrounds and provinces come together to compete, reconnect, and represent their teams with pride.
