Election candidate for the ANC in Ward 90 shares his vision for a safer, cleaner, more hopeful ward

As Ward 90 prepares for its by-election on November 26, ANC candidate Sihlangule Siwisa hopes to bring honesty, innovation, and community-centred leadership to a ward searching for stability and dignity.

With voting day fast approaching, ANC candidate for Ward 90 Sihlangule Siwisa has stepped forward with a message grounded in empathy and accountability.

He believes true leadership begins with acknowledging the daily frustrations residents face. Failing infrastructure, unstable electricity, water interruptions, and sporadic refuse collection continue to shape the rhythm of life in the ward.

Siwisa says that, if elected, he will prioritise restoring the basics through quicker repairs, stronger oversight, and transparent systems that allow residents to track their service requests.

Safety remains one of his most urgent concerns. He hopes to bring a more modern and co-ordinated approach to crime prevention, by strengthening partnerships with SAPS, JMPD, and community patrol groups.

He believes early warning tools, such as drone assisted monitoring, already used effectively in nearby suburbs, can help identify threats before they escalate, while still honouring residents’ dignity.

Siwisa also spoke passionately about youth unemployment, describing it as one of the ward’s most pressing challenges.

He aims to create pathways into jobs and training through partnerships with organisations, such as Harambee, ensuring young people have both the tools and support to build meaningful futures.

Reflecting on service delivery, he praised the recent ‘War on Potholes’ campaign, which targeted more than a thousand potholes in Ward 90 and declared the area pothole free. He plans to build on this through rapid response teams, weekly public reporting, and clear communication channels for residents.

For Siwisa, transparency is essential to rebuilding trust. He is committed to monthly public updates, open ward budgets, and regular community dialogues to ensure residents are genuinely part of the decision-making process.

His vision for Ward 90 in the next five years is one of stability, safety, and renewed hope. Siwisa wants residents to feel protected, heard, and proud of the place they call home.

Above all, he hopes to lead a ward where systems work, leadership is ethical, and every voice truly matters.
