Ward 90 residents urged to register ahead of upcoming by-election

Ward 90 by-election will be held on November 26 to elect a new councillor to represent the community.

Ward 90 is preparing to elect a new councillor following the passing of Martin Williams.

This ward covers Clynton, Craighall, Craighall Park, Dunkeld, Dunkeld West, Glenadrienne, Hurlingham, Hyde Park, Illovo, Parkmore, Riepen Park, and Sandhurst.

Residents will have the chance to choose who represents them in the City of Johannesburg Council — someone who will stand up for local issues like roads, water, electricity, waste management, and parks.

Before election day on November 26, residents need to make sure they are properly registered to vote.

A registration weekend is set for this weekend, October 4 and 5, with voter registration available from 8:00 to 17:00 at Dunkeld Bowls Club on 15 Hume Road.

Councillor Tim Truluck will be present on the morning of October 5 from 08:00 to 12:30 to assist with voter registration, pensioner rebates, and property valuations. Residents should bring their ID and rates bill.

The Independent Electoral Commission (IEC) will also have registration hubs across the ward, including Craighall Park, Dunkeld Corner, Hyde Park Corner, and Sandton City.

By-elections give residents the chance to vote directly for the individual who will represent their community. Your vote affects local service delivery, public safety, and the quality of life in your neighbourhood.

Truluck reminds everyone: “Democracy only works if you participate. Make sure you are registered, and make your voice count.”

To check your registration, SMS your ID number to 32810 (R1 per SMS), WhatsApp ‘Hi’ to 060 088 0000, or register online at registertovote.elections.org.za.
