The Rosebank Management District’s stakeholders convened for the last time for 2025
The Rosebank Management District’s objectives include providing for an urban environment that is walkable and well-connected to public transport networks.
The Rosebank Management District hosted the last stakeholder meeting for the year on November 27 at Rosebank’s Southern Sun.
In attendance were Rosebank SAPS, Rosebank Homeless Association and the City of Joburg.
The district exists to create a well-integrated mixed-use precinct that thrives and is a leading example for environmental sustainability, liveability, connectivity, diversity and innovation.
Its objectives are:
- Maintain a safe, clean, attractive environment.
- To provide for an urban environment that is walkable and well connected to public transport networks.
- To promote Rosebank Node as a desired destination to live, work and play.
- To ensure upliftment and growth
- To protect and enhance cultural and heritage assets.

The district manager, Mikhaela Donaldson, noted the following:
- The number of homeless people has increased drastically in the precinct over the past six months.
- Issues of illegal parking have spread to all the streets in the node.
- Petty crimes spiked up during July, September and October.
- Nightlife complaints from residents have reduced.
- Law enforcement operations from SAPS and JMPD have increased.
- About 80% of logged municipal issues have been resolved.
- RMD has worked with corporates in the precinct for charity drives and special projects.
Donaldson added that the RMD undertook successful projects, which included:
- RMD funded the repairs for the stormwater drain that was overflowing with water at Bath and Bierman avenues.
- 100 Bollards were delivered at the beginning of September. These were installed on the intersections that experience a lot of illegal parking and pavement damage, affecting pedestrian safety.
- The festive season donation for Cross the Divide included goods for 150 packs to be issued to the vulnerable across the area.
The Rosebank Homeless Association’s chair, Tessa Weakley, said that the association’s work is voluntary and works with the various organisations that supply services such as soup kitchens.
She said Rosebank Management District is one of their big sponsors. They also receive funds from businesses in the area, and they funnel that money to Immaculata Shelter, one of their big shelters.
