Pirates Hockey build momentum at second pre-season training session

With the season edging closer, Pirates Hockey continued their preparations with a focused and energetic second training session.

Pirates Hockey continued their build-up to the upcoming season with their second pre-season training session on January 31, as preparations gather pace ahead of the league’s start. The session reinforced the early groundwork already laid and allowed players to further settle back into training routines.

Both the men’s and women’s teams were present, contributing to a dynamic and competitive environment. The session was structured to refine core areas of play, with players working through defence, midfield and forward drills to improve positioning, movement and cohesion across the field.

As intensity increased, the training transitioned into a series of friendly matches. These provided valuable game-time opportunities, allowing players to apply tactical elements in live play while continuing to rebuild match fitness. The matches also encouraged communication and adaptability, key elements as squads begin to take shape.

There was a noticeable sense of enjoyment throughout the session, with players clearly pleased to be back on the turf and reconnecting with teammates. The atmosphere reflected a growing confidence within the group as preparations moved from foundation work towards sharpening performance.
