Warrant Officer Eric Masotsha said the matter was then handed over to Norwood SAPS Detective Sergeant Lynnette Mashele for further investigation. “As the investigation progressed, police received a tip-off regarding the break-in and the possible suspect involved,” said Masotsha.
During the investigation, detectives discovered that CCTV footage from a nearby business had captured evidence linked to the incident. The footage was downloaded and analysed as part of the case.
Police were then able to identify a suspect who was reportedly known to the business. The woman, who worked at the salon in the Orchards area under the Norwood SAPS policing precinct, was subsequently arrested.
