Rosebank physiotherapists jump into spring
Physiotherapists and biokineticist are working with Edcon to help school children get new school shoes using recycled PPE.
Samantha Dubnar Inc physiotherapists jumped into spring for a purpose.
On August 1, the team of physiotherapists gathered in Rosebank to exercise and raise funds for school shoes which will be donated to impoverished children.
Physiotherapist Mickayla Pinto said the initiative began on Mandela Day.
“The public was also invited and were required to pay R50 which would buy a child’s school shoes. The school shoes we’re buying are recycled from Protective Personal Equipment which was worn during the hard lockdown, so far we’ve bought 3 000 school shoes.”
Pinto added it was part of the company’s ethos to give back to the community.
“This was one of the initiatives we came up with to help schoolchildren. Another reason we decided to do this was we saw many children didn’t have proper school shoes and decided to do something about it.”
Fellow physiotherapist Ayanda Ngubane added she was happy to exercise for a good cause.
“Participating to make a difference always feels good. This is our third event aimed towards donating shoes and seeing where the school shoes go always motivates us to raise more funds.”
