DP World Lions Gauteng cricket teams stoked for 2022/23 season
The partnership with the Lions and Wanderers Stadium marks a new milestone in realising DP World’s ambition to build its international reputation and inspire the next generation.
DP World Gauteng Lions men’s and women’s cricket teams are excited about the 2022/23 season.
The season was launched at the newly unveiled DP World Wanderers Stadium formally known as Imperial Wanderers Stadium.
DP World Central Gauteng Lions CEO Jono Leaf-Wright said the cricket teams were in for a busy season.

“This season we’re hosting blind cricket, deaf cricket, school and club cricket. We’ll also be hosting a test match against the West Indies, pink day against Netherlands and T20 against the West Indies.”
Leaf-Wright added the cricket team aimed to achieve three goals before the season.

“There are three things we wanted to do before the season started which is become the first stadium with 5G, become a smart stadium and most tech advance stadium and we managed to tick those boxes before the start of the season.”
DP World Lions women’s cricket captain Yolani Fourie said the team was on a high for the new season.
“We want to win a trophy this season. We came close last season: we were second in the T20 but otherwise, we’re prepared for the season. We played two games recently and won three out of four games.”

The DP World Central Gauteng Lions CEO noted that the men’s and women’s teams had the new kit for the season.
“There are four kits for men this season, to name a few, the first one is traditional, and the yellow striping gives it the gold proud of Jozi touch, the one-day kit for the men and women consists of a design that the players came up with which is a representation of their fans.”
