The captain noted that prior to being at Parkview SAPS she was stationed at Sophiatown SAPS.
She added that she’s served in the SAPS for over 30 years.
“I joined SAPS in 1990 when I was 21 years old. Prior to that I was studying nursing but did not pursue a nursing career, as I decided to pursue policing because I saw more opportunities for myself within the career.”
Bester said since the beginning of her career, her highlights outweighed the low moments especially when community members wrote letters of gratitude and encouragement after she helped them in one way or another.

She concluded by saying that as a believer, she always prayed especially about difficult work situations.”
“Without God, I don’t think I would be able to deal with difficult situations or circumstances. I recently found myself in a difficult position and I asked God for guidance and then there was a sense of peace after I spoke to him.
