Stabbing carnage in supermarket
A supermarket in Orange Grove turned into a blood zone when a suspect randomly stabbed customers in it.
A male suspect was arrested for murder and five counts of attempted murder in Orange Grove.
Norwood police spokesperson Warrant Officer Eric Masotsha reported that on April 25 at about 21:00 the suspect was arrested after stabbing six supermarket customers with a knife. The victims were reportedly shopping at a supermarket on the of corner Louis Botha Avenue and 13th Street.
“The suspect entered the supermarket and locked the doors. He then started stabbing all the victims until a passerby stopped a patrol security van to alert them. The security officers called the police,” said Masotsha.
He said the suspect was arrested and would appear in court in due course.
The office of the Norwood SAPS Station Commander Colonel Logan Govender applauded both police and the private security company who backed each other up to apprehend the suspect. The Norwood police and its management commended constables Yusef Shishler, Shane Landsman and Daniel Melman.
