Pridwin Preparatory School launches Pridwin Academy

Learners from the Alexandra community will have access to quality education through the Pridwin Academy.

Pridwin Preparatory School launched a project that will provide an educational advancement opportunity for learners in the Alexandra community. The Pridwin Academy was launched at the school in Melrose on June 10. Head of Marketing and Communication at the school, Susie Kirk said the project aims to make a meaningful difference to learners in the Alexandra community and partner with government schools to improve the accessibility of good education and the sharing of academic resources. She said the programme will assist children in achieving a strong primary school education which will serve as a solid foundation for success in high school and beyond. Helping to provide opportunities for entrance into university, technicon or specialist skills college.

Kirk said the grades 4 – 7 learners from partnering schools in Alexandra Township will attend lessons on the Pridwin Campus for three afternoons a week and participate in an academic enrichment programme. Uniforms, books, and stationery will be supplied at the beginning of each term. Transport to and from the academy will be provided through an approved transport partnership. On arrival and before lessons commence, the learners will receive a hot lunch meal in the school dining room. Academy learners will utilize classrooms and facilities at Pridwin School. Participating schools from Alexandra include Ikage, Iphutheng and Emfundisweni primary schools.

At the launch, head of Pridwin Academy Kerry Stassen said this transformative educational programme is a venture that promises to play a part in many people’s success stories. “The academy’s mission is centered around the belief that every child regardless of their circumstance, deserves access to quality education and opportunities that can shape their future.

“We are committed to creating an environment where each and every boy can thrive academically, emotionally and socially,” said Stassen.

She said the learners would within the three afternoons a week also have an opportunity to explore interests and participate in activities that wouldn’t normally be available. She said upon learners’ arrival at school, lunch would be provided to sustain energy levels and resources which enhance learning to its fullest potential.

She thanked all who contributed to this success story so far.

Stassen said, “Boys, I want you to know that this academy is not just a school, it is a place of nurturing. Excellent educators and mentors are here to provide you with the tools, knowledge and support necessary to unlock your full potential and impact the world around you.”

Stassen extend her welcome to parents and guardians who entrusted the academy with their children. She encouraged learners to embrace the academy as their second home, cherish the knowledge they acquire and build lasting friendships. “Together, let us embark on an incredible journey of learning and growth.”
