Parktown Boys’ High School hosted its 8th annual and centenary edition of the U14 football tournament.
Parktown Boys’ High School hosted its 8th annual and centenary edition of the U14 football tournament on September 23, which took place until September 26.
Old boys, parents and guardians filled the stands cheering on and supporting U14 players on the field.

The Under 14A’s started their pool slowly and while they played well, they were not able to convert opportunities. As a result they drew their first two pool games versus Reddam Bedfordview (0-0) and a strong St Peter’s team (1–1).
Head of advancement, Malcolm Williams said, ” The team handled the pressure of dropping points well, to beat Waterstone 3-1 and St Dunstan‘s 7–0 in their last two pool matches. The two draws resulted in the team then facing KES in the quarter-final. The players enjoyed a good game, dominating and securing a 4-0 victory which saw them face tournament favourites St Benedict’s in the semi-final.”

Williams added that hte 1-0 victory placed Parktown in the final, where they faced Jeppe Boys, who had won their semi-final vs St Peter’s
Headmaster Kevin Stippel said while sport is a means for people to engage in healthy competition, as importantly it is an opportunity for each player involved make new acquaintances and build new friendships across schools and provincial boundaries.

Parktown Boys’ U14 coach, Katleho Khoali added, “In terms of the game against Reddam Bedfordview, the players tried their best and dominated the game but unfortunately could not capitalise on their two chances of scoring which were presented. We drew 0–0.”
Reddam House Bedfordview U14 coach, Steven Johns said his team played well for a tough game.

“Our defence was strong and the players played well together as a team. We can do better in terms of the midfield and attack positions but it was a good game overall.”
