Leak on Queens Road repaired and backfilled

Johannesburg Water completed backfilling on Queens Road in Parktown June 20

Johannesburg Water (JW) finally completed backfilling on an excavation on Queens Road in Parktown.

Last week, the Gazette reported that although the two-year old water leak stopped, the dug-up debris and exposed waterpipes posed a danger, not only to motorists, but to pedestrians as well.

JW spokesperson Nombuso Shabalala confirmed: “The backfilling was completed on June 20. The reinstatement will be completed by Johannesburg Roads Agency (JRA).”

Resident Maria Mena said it was disappointing that the leak took two-years to be attended to, but was glad the backfilling was complete and didn’t take as long as the leak to be fixed.
