Rosebank Police Station’s victim room receives a much-needed revamp

Kingsmead College, Rosebank Management District, and Rosebank CPF joined hands to make the victim room warmer and friendlier for the victims who will use it.

Kingsmead College, the Rosebank Community Policing Forum (CPF), Rosebank Management District (RMD), and other stakeholders unveiled the newly revamped victim unit at Rosebank Police Station on June 26.

RMD’s precinct manager Mikhaela Donaldson explained that the management district was constantly looking at how to engage with its residents, community, role players, and stakeholders, and were committed to ensuring that the precinct is a welcoming, safe, and clean place in the neighbourhood.

“It’s important that our police station is a reflection of our community. For this project we worked closely with Kingsmead College to identify what could be done to make the victim corner decent. We were pleasantly surprised with how the school grabbed the challenge with both hands.”

Kingsmead College learner Amelia Laburn said painting the mural at the police station would play a role in making the victims who visited the police station better, because the colours that were used on the mural were purposefully chosen to be warm and friendly.

The Rosebank Police Station’s Visual Policing (Vispol) Commander Ndivhuwo Mulaudzi expressed his gratitude to the CPF and stakeholders. “They have changed the limelight of the station, which looks better, and is more friendly and inviting to victim’s who’ll be using the room.”
