St John’s College matriculant dived his way to the 2025 World Aquatics U20 Men’s Water Polo Championships

St John’s College water polo star shared the Croatian pool with Old Johannians.

A St John’s College matriculant, Nicholas Searle, flew the South African flag in green and gold at the 2025 World Aquatics U20 Men’s Water Polo Championships in Croatia from June 14-21.

Competing in an exceptionally tough field, Nicholas rose to the challenge and gained invaluable experience at the highest level of junior water polo.

“During my time in Croatia, I was exposed to a level of water polo I had only dreamed of playing. While I faced tough opponents in the early stages, I never dropped my chin and took every game as an opportunity to grow, learning new skills and game IQ from the very best.”

The matriculant added that it was a privilege to represent his country at a young age and share the experience with former St John’s College water polo players.

Nicholas was joined by Old Johannians Gregory Pryce, Nicholas Pearce, Taeg Mosehla, and Ross Rovelli, who formed part of the South African squad.
