Ford Motor Company partnered with the Nelson Mandela Children’s Fund by handing over 19 cars on July 31 in Parktown.
Ford Motor Company Africa’s President, Neale Hill, said the event marked a major milestone in the history of the fund.
“This initiative is a practical demonstration of Ford’s global purpose to build a better world where every person is free to move to pursue their dreams. For us, mobility goes beyond vehicles; it is about enabling access, connection and long-term community transformation.”

Hill added that the partnership reflected their shared commitment to building a better, equitable future and a future that aligned with Madiba’s vision of dignity and opportunities for every child.
The Nelson Mandela Children’s Fund CEO, Dr Linda Ncube-Nkomo, said Ford Motor Company’s helping hand was evident recently in an initiative the fund was involved in.
“In April, we hosted a first-of-its-kind event in SA and the second one on the continent, the Pan African Children Summit. Ford was a critical partner in this event by providing cars to transport the children and truly living up to their purpose.”
Ford Motor Company’s president said that the day marked a symbolic handover of 19 vehicles that have been purposefully selected and, in some cases, specially converted for the Fund’s core programmes.

“This fleet includes four of our transits, three of which have been adapted into a mobile clinic, a mobile workshop and a delivery van for sustainable livelihood initiatives. The vehicles would be loaned to the fund for three years, with full ownership being transferred as a donation at the end of the period.”
Ncube-Nkomo concluded that the partnership would ensure that the fund could enable every child to reach their full potential and make their dreams come true.
